Workshops with Gregor Lersch in Turza Śląska

Branżowe Centrum Umiejętności — Floristry, Turza Śląska Events

Two days of workshops with Gregor Lersch, one of the most important florists in contemporary Europe, at the Branżowe Centrum Umiejętności in Turza Śląska: 38 participants, four pieces and over a thousand plants.

On 29 and 30 September 2026 I attended workshops with Gregor Lersch at the Branżowe Centrum Umiejętności in Turza Śląska — a German master florist, teacher and author who in 1978 became the first German to win the Europacup in Rome. For decades he has helped shape the language of contemporary floral design, and he still teaches how to read plant, form and space as a single process. On 1 October he closed the meeting with an evening show by candlelight.

In numbers: 38 participants, four pieces, over a thousand plants and flowers, two days of workshops and countless ideas. We talked mostly about the importance of proportion — even when the conversation turned to animals or design. The conclusion is simple: good proportions hold most of the secret of success.

In the photos: Gregor Lersch at work and at the flip chart with his sketches, branch structures with suspended plants, my own workshop piece — an autumn arrangement of cymbidium, callas, chrysanthemums and Virginia creeper on a wire mesh — and the evening show.
