Christmas Magic at Książ Castle 2023 — a winter wonderland of gypsophila

The second Christmas floral exhibition “Magia Świąt” at Książ Castle: with the Polish Florists' Association team I helped turn the castle chambers and corridors into a winter wonderland of gypsophila, Christmas trees and light.

From 1 to 31 December 2023 Książ Castle invited visitors to the second edition of the Christmas floral exhibition “Magia Świąt” (Christmas Magic). This time the theme was the Snow Queen and a land of ice, woven together with a traditional Christmas, and the decorations filled chambers and corridors on three floors of the castle. More than 70 florists worked on them in three teams: the Polish Florists' Association, the International Floristry Institute and Maciej Krzus with a floristry school.

I was in the Polish Florists' Association team and from 27 to 30 November I helped create the decorations as a volunteer florist. Gypsophila dominated — whole pots of white sprigs became suspended ceilings of lights, bench frames and cascades flowing from fireplaces. Next to them stood slender trees made of conifer sprigs, whitewashed branches and red accents, all finished with wintry blue light.
