Christmas Magic at Książ Castle 2022 — the first winter floral exhibition

As a volunteer florist I helped with the first Christmas floral exhibition at Książ Castle: more than 50 florists from all over Poland turned the castle rooms into winter wonderlands in three days.

At the end of November 2022 Książ Castle invited florists to decorate it for Christmas for the first time — until then they had only done so for the spring Flower and Art Festival. More than 50 florists from the Polish Florists' Association, the International Floristry Institute and Maciej Krzus's Master School of Floristry were given castle rooms and sections of the corridors to design. The “Magia Świąt” (Christmas Magic) exhibition opened on 2 December and ran until the end of December, and visitors voted for the Winter Master of Floristry.

I worked there from 28 November as a volunteer florist, helping to create the decorations. I spent the first days in the hall with deer antlers, which turned into a winter landscape: rocks of crumpled paper, spruces, whitewashed birch branches, dry grasses and teasels in blue and purple light. Other rooms featured, among others, a forest of white illuminated Christmas trees, a tunnel of branches and lights, an upside-down tree in a steel frame and festive tables.
