The Imperial Staircase and a rose tunnel — 33rd Flower and Art Festival at Książ Castle
Książ Castle, Wałbrzych Events
As a volunteer florist I worked on the 33rd Flower and Art Festival “Princess Daisy's Secret Garden” at Książ Castle — on a tunnel of pastel roses and in the team that designed the Imperial Staircase.
From 29 April to 3 May 2023 Książ Castle in Wałbrzych hosted the 33rd Flower and Art Festival under the motto “Princess Daisy's Secret Garden” — in the year Wałbrzych dedicated to the princess. More than 30 castle rooms were designed by florists from the Polish Florists' Association, the International Floristry Institute, Maciej Krzus's Master School of Floristry and floristry school students, and the castle's fifth floor was opened for the first time.
From 24 to 28 April I helped with the preparations as a volunteer florist. First, in the castle greenhouse, we built a tunnel of pastel roses hanging from branches — pink, cream and pale blue, with fabrics and ribbons above the walkway. Then I joined the team that, following Małgorzata Partyka's design, created the Imperial Staircase display: we covered the floor with book pages interwoven with ivy, and the hall filled with red fabrics, lilies and branch arrangements in stone urns.
In the photos: building and the finished rose tunnel, work on the Imperial Staircase and the display sign naming its makers.
