34th Flower and Art Festival at Książ Castle — behind the scenes

As a volunteer florist I helped prepare the 34th Flower and Art Festival at Książ Castle, where floral installations took visitors on a journey around Europe to mark 20 years of Poland in the European Union.

From 1 to 5 May 2024 Książ Castle in Wałbrzych hosted the 34th Flower and Art Festival. To mark 20 years of Poland in the European Union, the floral arrangements led through the blooming countries of Europe. Around 80 florists, among others from the Polish Florists' Association and the International Floristry Institute, created more than 30 installations — from a flower carpet in the Courtyard of Honour to arrangements in the castle rooms.

I was part of the volunteer crew that prepared the festival behind the scenes before the opening. By the castle greenhouses we assembled and painted wooden plinths for the arrangements, unpacked crates of flowers and prepared floristry materials, including flowering bougainvillea. It is work visitors never see, yet without it no installation would be ready on time.
