Wedding bouquets on a black beach and by a volcano — Just Wedding Workshop in Iceland

At the Just Wedding Workshop in Iceland (26–30 July 2023) I worked on bouquets for outdoor wedding shoots: on the black beach of Reynisfjara, on the Dyrhólaey cliffs, by a glacier lagoon and by a volcano.

Just Wedding Workshop is a wedding workshop for photographers, filmmakers, wedding planners and florists. Model couples pose in real wedding stylings, and participants work on them just as they would at a real wedding. The Icelandic edition ran from 26 to 30 July 2023, and I worked there as a florist — on bouquets and floral decorations.

Most of the bouquets were in a warm peach palette chosen to match the satin dresses: pink-peach roses, salmon flowers with ruffled petals, black baby's breath and dark leaves. On the black sand of Reynisfjara, by the basalt columns and the Reynisdrangar stacks, they looked like embers. The same bouquets appeared on the Dyrhólaey cliffs and by a lagoon full of drifting ice.

One shoot had a classic bouquet of white roses — on black sand and by a waterfall. The most unusual shot, though, was taken by an active volcano: a model in a black dress holding a red bouquet, with a smoking lava field behind her.
